Does any remember Sour Grapes…. My whole teenage formative years were spent consuming far too much wine and dancing the night away at the top end of the wine bar….. Great Times….. I even remember the resident DJ Matt Biancci

I remember Sour Grapes well, especially taking to the floor during mid-1984 the first time I heard Evelyn Thomas’ High-Energy – those were the days!!!

Hi Martin, I only came to Bournemouth in 2000, so this is a bit before me, where was Sour Grapes?

Hi Martin that must have been pre 2000. I can only remember back as far as the Winchester being Bar Tonka!

Poss. end 60′s but definitely early 70′s – very cosy &
thriving little joint – magic times. I believe it was one of
the few places that had an extended license or maybe
they were just rather reluctant to throw us out – there was a supper license around Bournemouth at that time
( this included the nightclubs ) maybe it operated on a
similar basis with a fresh buffet always on the bar – and
wine, wine, wine and women and wine.
It’s front was all old railway sleepers mounted vertically with a little speak easy grille through which
you politely requested admission – if they didn’t like you then fat chance !
You’re right – those were the days but much earlier
    than you thought
